Kiln describes a development environment as a single file and brings it up in under a second on any machine. Same toolchain, same versions, no onboarding day lost to setup.

One file, one environment

A single declarative `kiln.toml` pins every tool, runtime and service version. Check it in and the environment travels with the repository.

Content-addressed layers

Toolchains are cached by content hash and shared across projects, so the second project using the same Node version costs nothing.

No daemon

Kiln is a binary, not a background service. Nothing runs when you are not using it, and nothing needs to be restarted when it misbehaves.
